UPDATE: Church Schedule to Reopen

Posted by FBC Plano on

Dear Church Family,

We are so grateful for your faithful love and support throughout this pandemic! After meeting with the ministerial staff and Leadership Council, we propose the following schedule to reopen for Sunday Morning in-person worship for those who feel safe leaving their home:

Sunday, May 24 - Drive-In Service and Live Stream

For those who feel comfortable leaving their home, drive-in style worship services will be held in the church's East Parking Lot. Our Traditional Worship Service will meet at 9:00 a.m., and the Contemporary Worship Service will meet at 11:15 a.m. (There will be more instructions sent out later about these services). For those who need or prefer to stay at home and worship, the services will be streamed online, just as if you were in the parking lot.

Sunday, May 31 - Worship in Sanctuary/Great Hall and Live Stream

We will meet and worship in the Sanctuary and/or Great Hall. We will diligently provide a safe environment for our church family. For those who feel comfortable leaving their home and meeting in the church building, below are some procedures that will be in place on May 31:

The church will have wiped down the most common touchpoints (doors, light switches, countertops, etc.).

Greeters will open doors so that everyone does not touch the door handle.

Ushers will escort you to your seat to maintain social distancing.

Offering baskets will be at the entrance of the Sanctuary and Great Hall, so that an offering plate does not need to be passed.

There will only be one entrance open for each service: the main sanctuary door will open at 8:00 a.m. for the Traditional Service at 9:00 a.m. The Great Hall (Berry Building doors) will open at 10:30 a.m. for the Contemporary Service at 11:15 a.m.

Hand sanitizer will be available.

No childcare will be provided.

Sunday School classes will not meet on campus.

When the service is over, ushers will coordinate people exiting row by row, by maintaining social distance.

For those who need or prefer to stay at home and worship, the services will be streamed online, just as if you were in the church building.

As of right now, services will continue to meet via livestream. We will communicate clearly in the event of a change to the above plans.

On Sunday, May 3, Leadership Council approved organizing a team of ushers and volunteers, led by Tommy Shumate, to help with safety protocols and social distancing when we are back together.

Sunday school classes will continue to meet through Zoom. Please consider participating, thus far the experience has been overwhelmingly positive. Tommy Shumate and I would love to get an invitation to your Sunday School Zoom meeting. Please email me at   and Tommy at  with your class's Zoom information.  We encourage classes that are not having Zoom meetings to consider it. It is easy, and assistance in setting up the meeting can be provided.

The church office will remain closed to the public at this time. Church staff continue to meet the needs of the congregation by working remotely and only coming to the office when absolutely necessary. The church staff meets regularly via Zoom Conferencing.

Please keep us informed of needs within the congregation as they arise, so we can respond as quickly as possible.

Additionally, look for the daily Bedrock devotional videos. These videos will be posted on Facebook and available on the church website at www.fbcplano.org/devotionals. We will send out an email reminder that links to the video each morning.

The drop box located in the main office door is still available for mail and gifts to the church. This box will be checked daily.

May the Lord bless you and keep you as we move forward separated by circumstances, yet united in the hope of Christ.

Pastor Craig Curry
